Flowers!

Since we're trying to do the wedding as eco-friendly and green as possible, we have been really excited about using flowers that are in season and locally grown to reduce the use of trucking/flying flowers from far locales. I love this idea, and it also makes it more meaningful that the flowers will be from Tennessee, but there's one little problem- there are not a ton of flowers blooming in September in Tennessee, and to top it off, not a lot of purple flowers! Chris, being a landscape designer, is pretty particular about his flowers, and from the beginning, he said he would really like either white or purple. So, when the color scheme turned out to have purple in it, I figured it was perfect- Chris can get his purple flowers! It limits me to very few choices though- so far we found these:
These are Dinner Plate Dahlias, called "Lilac Time." I think these are perfect, and hopefully growable...

And these are also Dinner Plate Dahlias, called "Mom's Special." Also very nice....

I'm a big fan of hydrangea, and since there are some oak leaf hydrangea already in the Boxwood Garden, it would definitely be fitting to use them as well. I keep coming across that beautiful purple color---

Speaking of, how cute are these boutonnieres?

Of course, we can always settle with white flowers, but it just seems so boring! Although I love the idea of mixing milk glass with white flowers- very chic & fresh....
