The main place I do my shopping is at the Design & Decoration Building on Third Avenue and 59th Street (conveniently located across the street from Bloomingdales, when I need a break from shopping to shop some more). It's a massive, 17-story building filled with furniture, fabric, wallpaper, lighting, carpet, etc. Lately, I have been seeing some possibilities for wedding ideas there!
I saw these tulle balls in a showroom window and thought they were adorable. They even had my turquoise color...
Also, in one of my favorite showrooms, Osborne & Little, I saw this cool wall of colorful trims and thought they would be great to use, although I'm not sure exactly how?
So, back to the wedding color scheme-I guess my brain has been on purple lately, considering it is a main color of the bridesmaid dresses, flowers, and wedding decor, but apparently I am not the only one! I have noticed lately a TON of purple in interiors- the covers of Elle Decor, Interior Design, New York Spaces, even the final issue of Domino (so sad!) have some form of purple on the covers. I am also now seeing tons of purple in the wedding magazines, so there is a definite overlap between the two worlds. I have been working on an apartment on the Upper West Side, and the clients really wanted a lot of color, and I noticed today that somehow the whole apartment ended up purple! Here are the living room, family room, and dining room fabrics, respectively:
I never really thought I liked purple before this- what is happening??
On the day of my wedding, I wore a purple flannel shirt that buttoned up the front so that I could get it on and off without messing up my hair and makeup. So I always associate purple with my wedding, even though it wasn't an official color!
