Since it's lunch time....

and I am very hungry today, I thought it might be a good time to mention the food for the wedding!
We are using a caterer based out of Nashville called Clean Plate Catering. Mom has used them for some work events, and always loved what they did. The owner is committed to helping us carry out our vision of southern food with a twist, while incorporating as many locally-grown ingredients as possible. We recently got a preliminary menu from her, and while I think it needs some tweaking, it sounds delish!

Pan-Fried Trout with Lemon and Capers
Turbanado and Herb Smoked Chicken with Blackberry Salsa, Apple Butter BBQ Sauce

Corn Pudding
Sliced Home-Grown Tomatoes with Basil
(gross to me, yummy to others?)
Relish Tray with Deviled Eggs (my favorite food...mmmm)
Wok Charred Green Beans with Roasted Asparagus
Caramelized Vidalia and Roasted Red P
epper Tart
Dandelion Greens, Spinach and Arugula with Tart Apple, Grapes, Spiced Pecans, Brie and Apple
Cider Vinagarette
We definitely want to add grits to the menu! Maybe instead of the corn pudding?

We don't know what the passed hors d'ouvres will be yet, but I am definitely hoping for some biscuits and ham too (for the meat eaters out there!) And maybe crab cakes? And, don't forget, fried green tomatoes- I am thinking most of the northerners attending will have never had one before?

How does it sound so far??
